Here’s how the study works: Read the chapters mentioned in the heading during the week and share any words, thoughts, verses that stood out to you. Having a week for several chapters creates the opportunity to revisit them and make additional comments as you feel inclined as well as make comments on other people’s insights.
1:6 those who turn back from following the Lord and neither seek the Lord nor inquire of him.
It wasn't just the idolaters who God "stretch out my hand against" (v.4) but those who had stopped following the Lord, stopped seeking him, stopped inquiring of him. It's not just the absence of evil that God wants but he also doesn't want his people ignoring him.

2:15 This is the city of revelry that lived in safety. She said to herself, “I am the one! And there is none besides me.” What a ruin she has become, a lair for wild beasts! All who pass by her scoff and shake their fists.
Pride so often the downfall of many. We think we have created safety but without God we are ruined. Safety without God is a myth.

3:17 The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.
God's heart is to rejoice over us with singing. His desire is to delight in his people, to sing over them with joy. This is where everything is heading after the judgments, destruction, desolation – when it's all over, when sin has been dealt with and everything standing between God and man has been dealt with, there is no reason not to rejoice. God "will take great delight in you."
