The Lord said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven.” (Exodus 17:14)
Joshua is busy fighting the Amalekites and is unaware that Moses can’t hold up his hands in prayer any longer. Aaron and Hur step in to support Moses. The victory is documented as a reminder and an encouragement for the Israelites. When we’re in difficulty, God calls others to pray, but we’re often unaware. Furthermore, Jesus himself is interceding for us (Romans 8:34).
