“You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land  where there is no water.” Psalm 63:1

The Israelites lived in a dry land that had no great rivers. They had to rely on God for rain. Furthermore, they always seemed poorly equipped to defend themselves, not having chariots, and sometimes, not even a blacksmith. Yet they had God. He was their protection and provision. The temptation is to look for less spiritual ways of providing security and protection for ourselves, rather than trusting God.
