Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread. Proverbs 30:8
Falsehood and lies are obviously deceptive but so are poverty and riches. Riches deceive us into thinking that we don’t need God. Poverty deceives us into thinking God doesn’t care and we will have to provide for ourselves in whatever way we can (v. 9). Regardless of whether we own a lot or a little, God is our provider. God provides us with things money can’t buy – salvation, love, hope, and peace. Lord, lead us away from temptation.
