Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow,
an undeserved curse does not come to rest. Proverbs 26:2
This proverb does away with superstitions, like walking under ladders, opening umbrellas inside, breaking mirrors and staying in room 13 at a motel. A curse won’t come upon us when we do any of these things. Furthermore, words cannot be used to curse God’s children. Balaam was unable to curse Israel (Numbers 23:8). Words are powerless to harm us unless we agree with the words of the curse. If we’ve believed a curse, we repent. We accept God’s forgiveness and find freedom.
