Through patience a ruler can be persuaded,
and a gentle tongue can break a bone. Proverbs 25:15
Patience and gentleness are persuasive. Bones are the most rigid part of the body and take a long time to decompose after a person dies. Yet the most rigid person can be persuaded over time if we keep on responding with gentleness and kindness. We are persuasive people if they can see we aren’t operating out of self-interest but rather recognise and address their concerns. “A gentle answer turns away wrath” (15:1) and a gentle response can change a person’s mind.
