Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty,
but from the strength of an ox come abundant harvests. Proverbs 14:4
“Without oxen a stable stays clean” (NLT). Oxen make a mess! A strong team of oxen was necessary to plough the ground. With a good team, a farmer could feel confident of an abundant harvest. At times, our work may seem messy but we keep our eyes on future harvests.
