“Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account.” Philippians 4:17

Paul understood, “it is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). Consequently, for blessings to flow amongst God’s people, we need willing receivers. Paul was happy to receive from the Philippians knowing that they would be blessed by their giving. However, to be a good receiver requires the humility to acknowledge our need and receive from others. This may grate against our independence and self-sufficiency, but when we don’t let people give to us we deny them a blessing.
