His sister [Miriam] asked Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?” (Exodus 2:7)

How brave and clever Miriam is! When Moses’ mother can no longer hide her baby from the Egyptian overseers, she makes a waterproof basket for Moses. She places it where she knows Pharaoh’s daughter bathes. Even before the princess decides to keep the baby, Miriam offers to find a nursing mother and returns with her own mother. Moses’ life is saved, and years later, Miriam leads a celebration following the Israelites’ liberation from slavery (Exodus 15:20-21).
