Short Devotion : Matthew 8:17

This was to fulfil what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.” Matthew 8:17
Jesus healed many, but not all, throughout his earthly ministry. These healings were foretastes of God’s future kingdom where “there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain” (Revelation 21:4). We still live with foretastes. We see some miracles, some healings, some restorations, but not all receive miracles, are healed, or find complete restoration. Foretastes give us hope and encouragement that there is more to come. We long to see God’s kingdom in its fulness.
