For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Matthew 6:14
“Once our eyes have been opened to see the enormity of our offense against God, the injuries which others have done to us appear by comparison extremely trifling” (From Constable’s Commentary). Joseph saw God’s hand in his brothers’ mistreatment and was able to forgive. Jesus saw that the Roman soldiers didn’t understand what they were doing and was able to forgive. God wants to open our eyes and give us a fresh perspective so we too are able to forgive.
