“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near … Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.” Matthew 3:2, 8
John the Baptist preached a message of repentance. This means a change in our thinking and lifestyle. John is saying, produce fruit or evidence that you have repented by living differently. He wasn’t satisfied with remorse or regret, he wanted to see transformed lives. Without God working in our lives, this isn’t possible, but God enables and empowers us to live a life worthy of the Lord. If your life hasn’t changed as a result of trusting Christ, you haven’t repented.
