“When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders.” Matthew 27:3
Things didn’t turn out the way Judas expected. Did he think that Jesus would ask his Father to provide him with twelve legions of angels (Matthew 26:53)? Was Judas trying to force Jesus’ hand to establish an earthly kingdom? When it all went wrong Judas expressed remorse but not repentance. Without repentance, there could be no forgiveness. Judas had committed to a wrong path and refused to change.
