“From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes—from their own children or from others?”
“From others,” Peter answered.
“Then the children are exempt,” Jesus said to him. “But so that we may not cause offense …” Matthew 17:26-27
As God’s children, we are exempt from keeping the Old Testament rules and regulations because we live under the new covenant of grace. However, we don’t want to cause offence so we may abide by some commandments. This may seem strange to some who don’t understand our motives but, we know, we are avoiding unnecessarily offending others.
