His disciples answered, “Where could we get enough bread in this remote place to feed such a crowd?” Matthew 15:33
Did the disciples forget the 5,000 people that Jesus previously fed with five loaves and two fish? Or didn’t they think Jesus would repeat the miracle for Gentiles? The disciples show a decided lack of concern, which suggests the latter. It is Jesus who initiates the conversation about food and he provides for the crowd. Let’s not get locked into our preconceived ideas about what Jesus is willing to do for those we consider undeserving, since we are all undeserving.
