“Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.” Matthew 10:39
The two life choices: selfishness or sacrifice. A selfish life results in loss. The things we gain lose meaning as we age. We never gain enough to truly satisfy us. A sacrificial life results in gain, but it is costly. We can only live a sacrificial life if there’s an incentive, that we will indeed, “find life” – find purpose and meaning. It’s not an entirely altruistic choice. We’ll live a sacrificial life when we are confident of God’s promise.
