“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.’” Mark 8:35
God wants to teach us how to “save our lives” and it’s not by becoming a success in the eyes of the world. Rather it’s by “losing ourselves” in God’s cause. By committing ourselves to God, we are investing in eternity. This isn’t an act of desperation because we are afraid of death or hell, but rather it’s an act of devotion because we are responding to God’s great love and grace towards us.
