“No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, ‘The old is better.’” Luke 5:38-39
The old is better because it’s what we’re accustomed to. The new is radically different and we have to learn to acquire a taste for it. It’s easier to stick to our old, comfortable rules rather than learn God’s new way of grace. Yet this is what Jesus asks us to do. He is offering us new wine, which is not simply a patched-up version of religion but a radically different lifestyle.
