“‘His winnowing fork is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.’ And with many other words John exhorted the people and proclaimed the good news to them.” Luke 3:17-18
Burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire doesn’t sound like good news. But if God isn’t working towards the destruction of wickedness, it means he either isn’t good or he isn’t powerful. We live in a sin-wrecked world. Unless we know that evil will ultimately be destroyed, there’s no genuine good news.
