“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.” (Genesis 50:20-21).
Joseph reveals his surprising perspective on his brothers’ betrayal. He doesn’t deny reality but says quite bluntly, “You intended to harm me.” However, Joseph has forgiven his brothers and tells them twice not to be afraid. He could appreciate God’s perspective and say, “But God intended it for good.” God’s intentions are always for our good, even when our circumstances are difficult.
