“Jesus’ brothers said to him, ‘Leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that your disciples there may see the works you do. No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret.’ … even his own brothers did not believe in him.” John 7:3-5
We often underestimate the difficulties of Jesus’ home life. Jesus knows what it’s like to experience a lack of understanding and support from those nearest and dearest. Jesus chooses to maintain contact with his family. He doesn’t avoid them which he could do as Capernaum is now his ministry base (Matthew 4:13, Mark 2:1).
