“I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” John 20:22
This reminds us of God breathing on Adam and imparting life (Genesis 2:7). The disciples have many encounters with God through his Spirit. Initially, they respond to his call to follow Jesus; they’re equipped when Jesus sends them out in pairs; they witness many miracles; they see answers to prayer, they receive his Spirit here and at Pentecost. The disciples are constantly on a learning curve with God. So are we. He wants to breathe more of his life into us.
