“Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.” John 10:37-38
Jesus engages his audience by arousing their curiosity. He encourages their faith by reminding them of the miracles they have witnessed. Yet he doesn’t feel the need to spell out exactly what he means. He gives his listeners enough clarity to make a response but not so much that they aren’t acting in faith.
