Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
   for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
   great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

Jeremiah lives through the fall of Jerusalem by the Babylonian forces. Yet he could still write about the love and faithfulness of God. The theme of Jeremiah’s messages in his two books, Jeremiah and Lamentations, is judgment on God’s people for their unfaithfulness to him and their wrongdoing. Yet Jeremiah has hope. God hasn’t totally abandoned his people. He has good plans to renew their relationship with him, and to bring restoration (Jeremiah 29:11).
