“We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.” James 3:2

James describes our tongues with six pictures: bit, rudder, fire, poisonous animal, spring and fig tree. We can control many things in our lives, where we live, what work we do, who we marry yet we are unable to perfectly control our words. While we may never be perfect, the place to start is to avoid jealousy, selfish ambition, boasting, and lying (verse 14). Our words reveal the attitude of our heart.
