Our faith is tested when we have the opportunity to accomplish a good thing outside the will of God. We might have the opportunity to help someone, or contribute to a godly project, but if we help in a way that draws attention to ourselves or boosts our self-esteem we have succumbed to temptation. This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t help or contribute to worthy causes but rather we guard our attitude. Are we helping in a way that honours God or to feel good about ourselves?
