“Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantor of a better covenant.” Hebrews 7:22
A covenant requires two people to be in agreement. Employment contracts are like covenants, in that each party agrees to the conditions, but contracts can be broken. Jesus guarantees that God will fulfil his part of the covenant. Furthermore, Jesus also fulfils our part of the covenant for us. Jesus satisfies both sides of the covenant and does for me what I could not do for myself. All that is required of me is to acknowledge and receive what Jesus has done on my behalf.
