“Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath … We have this hope as an anchor for the soul.” Hebrews 6:17-19
What is the unchanging nature of his purpose? To have a people for himself, “without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless” (Ephesians 5:27) in unbroken fellowship with him. On the cross, we see his commitment to this purpose. When we think about the Cross and remember his promises, we know he won’t give up on us.
