“We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.” Hebrews 2:1

The danger isn’t that we will turn our backs on God, but rather that we will drift away. We drift when we become more interested in worldly pursuits and less interested in spiritual ones. To prevent drifting, we pay careful attention. We pay attention to the truth, to God’s Word, to prayer, to listening to what God is saying to us. The opposite of drifting is “making every effort” to enter into all God has for us (4:11).
