“So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, ‘It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables.’” Acts 6:2
The twelve disciples delegated the responsibility of food distribution to others because it was taking them away from their primary task of teaching the word of God. The twelve disciples weren’t reliant on their service to others as a way of bolstering their own self-esteem. It’s important to involve others not only so they have the opportunity of serving God but so we don’t become overburdened.
