Paul didn’t create opposition by calling for a public gathering to dispute the worship of Artemis. He simply preached the truth. However, preaching truth will challenge the belief systems of others and cause them to react either positively (verse 20) or negatively as we see here. The city clerk wisely pointed out, the crowd was in danger of being charged with rioting, not Paul because Paul hadn’t committed a crime. Let’s be faithful in preaching the truth even when it challenges others.
