After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. Acts 1:3
After being with his disciples for three years there was still much they didn’t understand about the kingdom of God, particularly the timing (verse 6). God’s kingdom has come but it isn’t fully realised in our lives or in our world. The kingdom awaits a future unveiling. God’s kingdom is both a present and future reality. In the meantime we pray, “Your kingdom come.”
