“I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to be first, will not welcome us. So when I come, I will call attention to what he is doing, spreading malicious nonsense about us.” 3 John 1:9-10
John isn’t afraid to call out bad behaviour among Christian leaders. Today we’re more cautious, particularly if their ministry is thriving. However, God’s blessing doesn’t mean God’s approval. Sometimes God blesses, despite serious problems (1 Corinthians 1:7, 5:1). Other times there’s a lack of blessing when leaders are clearly doing God’s work (Amos 7:12, Jeremiah 20:2). Pray for wisdom when confrontation seems necessary.
