“They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.” 1 Peter 4:4
Why are they surprised? Why would the simple decision not to join people in their reckless behaviour, cause them to abuse us?
When we don’t join in their activities, it points out that we all have a choice. We don’t have to go to events, we don’t enjoy. We don’t have to behave recklessly to feel accepted. We make saying, “no” a viable alternative. This intimidates some, because they lack the courage to make their own choices.
