“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God … Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom but we preach Christ crucified.” 1 Corinthians 1:18 & 22-23
You’d expect the message of the cross to be the opposite of foolishness, that is wisdom. But instead, it is power. We aren’t saved by wisdom, good advice, good works or information about keeping the rules, rather we are saved by the power of God. He brings salvation to those who are receptive to him.
