Here’s how the study works: Read the chapter mentioned in the heading several times during the week and share any words, thoughts, verses that stood out to you. Having a week for a chapter creates the opportunity to reread it several times and make additional comments as you feel inclined as well as make comments on other people’s insights.
JESUS IS COMING!
HALLELUJAH!
Rev 22-17
…..And let him who HEARS say "Come"…………
We can HEAR but do we listen well?
22-20
He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon"
Oh how we look forward to that wonderful day!
All of you who shared in this study may you be richly blessed.
Thanks Susan for leading! x x

12 crops of fruit on the tree of life, which stands on both sides of the river. How is this possible?:-)
That is some tree, and the crystal clear water sure sounds inviting.
"Come! whoever is thirsty let him come!
Alleluiah!

Yes, I was wondering how the tree could be on both sides of the River. Another translation puts it this way: On each side of the river grew a tree of life.
(PS Deborah, nice photo!)
Good question, Alison, how well do we listen?
v.3 stood out to me, "no longer will there be any curse". I love the verse in Joy to the World, which is not always sung, but goes like this:
He comes to make his blessings flow, far as the curse is found.

I'm still not sure how much of the sequence of events we should know in order to avoid being deceived in the end times. I am a little worried that these great exaggerations and images in Rev. will color our (believers) expectations, And if the antichrist is really pretty subtle about his miracles and signs, we could be more easily fooled.
I doubt we'll be seeing any beasts, dragons or 7 headed creatures. What we will see is political leaders who are charismatic and clever. Also the family structure being destroyed and evil strengthening all over the world. Morals laughed at, Bible banned from schools and public places, christians being jailed for speaking out. WE are seeing the beginnings of this now.
How strong in our faith and vigilant we must be!

I'm not expecting to see dragons, beasts or seven headed creatures either. As you say, Deborah, the devil is very subtle. Nevertheless God has promised us his Holy Spirit to teach us and remind us (John 14:26). So if we continue in God's Word and learning his ways we don't have to worry about being deceived.
I again find it curious that it is mentions those outside the city (v.15).

v.1-5 Is a great description of the holy city. We lost the Garden but gain a City. We gain more than we lost.
Is that an amazing thought – through our sin, we eventually gain more than we lost.

well I wouldn't go that far, we lost the perfect Earthly environment which nurtured the physical body, we then move to a Heavenly home with no need for the garden, no physical need, only the need to worship and honor God.

Yes although the Garden of Eden was a perfect earthly environment it was also a graceless place. One sin and they were out of there. Which is why I think we gained more than we lost. We gained grace.

Also our fellowship with God seems to be more initimate in the City than it was in the Garden.

Also, no night in the City.

v.16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”
Jesus is both David's Root and Offspring. He was before David and his descendant as well.

v.20 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”
The message of the New Testament is that Jesus could return at any moment. From this perspective nothing needs to happen before Jesus returns. Not even the tribulation or parts of it.

v.14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.
We are required to wash our robes. There is a part for us to play in the process of santification.

v.6 The angel said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord, the God who inspires the prophets, sent his angel to show his servants the things that must soon take place.”
God prepares his people in advance. God never says, "Oh, I never thought of that!" He has everything in hand.
