Here’s how the study works: Read the chapters mentioned in the heading during the week and share any words, thoughts, verses that stood out to you. Having a week for several chapters creates the opportunity to revisit them and make additional comments as you feel inclined as well as make comments on other people’s insights.
46:9-10 He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
God is the only One who can make wars cease. We need to rest in that, be still, trust, knowing God can take any situation and turn it around for good.

47:6-7 Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise.
Five times in two verses we are told to sing. God wants his people to sing praises to him, to focus our attention on him and forget other issues for a time. When we do this we realize he is the king of all the earth and nothing happens outside his Sovereignty.

48:11 Mount Zion rejoices, the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments.
The Message translates, "because of your judgments" to "He does what he said he’d do!"
I can trust God to do what he says. God is fair, God is just, God is righteous. He keeps his word. His judgments will come to pass. There is great security in this.

49:20 People who have wealth but lack understanding are like the beasts that perish.
It is not wealth that is the problem but their lack of understanding. Wealth does not provide eternal security, does not redeem their life (v.7), does not rescue them from decay (v.9), or death (v.10) even if land is named after them. It is not because of wealth that the Psalmist is redeemed (v.15).

50:14-15 “Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”
When we offer thanksgiving to God we focus on his goodness and his provisions. If we are expectant and acting in faith he will deliver us in due course.
