Here’s how the study works: Read the chapter mentioned in the heading several times during the week and share any words, thoughts, verses that stood out to you. Having a week for a chapter creates the opportunity to reread it several times and make additional comments as you feel inclined as well as make comments on other people’s insights.
v.17 They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick.
So sometimes the power of the Lord isn't present to heal??
God moves in mysterious ways and the way He moves is not always the same. So we can't box God in.

v.20-21 When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.” The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, “Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
From the Jewish perspective only God can forgive sins. Since God is holy all sin is sin against his holiness, an affront to his holiness.
When Jesus said, "your sins are forgiven" he was effectively claiming to be God.

v.26 Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today.”
Immediately following this Luke records Matthew’s call which is also remarkable. That Jesus would call a despised tax collector would strike Jews as particularly remarkable.
