As I was thinking about hope this week, I came across this verse: “Let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet” (1 Thessalonians 5:8 NIV).
The hope of salvation is a helmet that protects our minds from discouragement, disappointment and disillusionment. Knowing that God has a plan to restore and redeem his world encourages us, even on days when the news reports cause us to wonder where God is, and what’s he doing. God’s plans aren’t thwarted by the consequences of living in a broken world or by those who plot evil. We have hope because of God’s faithfulness over generations.
