Here’s how the study works: Read the chapter mentioned in the heading several times during the week and share any words, thoughts, verses that stood out to you. Having a week for a chapter creates the opportunity to reread it several times and make additional comments as you feel inclined as well as make comments on other people’s insights.
v.4 And no one takes this honor on himself, but he receives it when called by God, just as Aaron was.
Even Christ did not take the honor of priesthood upon himself. Christ means anointed one which means he didn’t anoint himself. Christ did not exalt himself and likewise we do not exalt ourselves.

v.7 During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission
Jesus’ prayers were heard. Even though he was not rescued from death yet he was resurrected. Likewise even when we don’t get the answer we want we know we are heard.

v.9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him
In order to be perfect, Jesus needed to be made complete by experiencing being human.

v.12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!
If we are not passing on what we know, we lose it and have to relearn it all over again.

v.14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
There is not just a lack of information but also a lack of experience (“constant use”). We need experience to be trained to distinguish between good and evil.
We also need to give young Christians experience so they can be trained by it.
