Galatians 1
Today we start the book of Galatians…
Here’s how the study works: Read the chapter mentioned in the heading several times during the week and share any words, thoughts, verses that stood out to you. Having a week for a chapter creates the opportunity to reread it several times and make additional comments as you feel inclined as well as make comments on other people’s insights

v.11-12 I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.
Paul did not inherit his beliefs. Likewise my beliefs must be my own not just things I've heard from other people.
v.6-7 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel — which is really no gospel at all.
The Galatians have given up on grace and want to go back to law abiding. Why?
Law abiding is not the gospel, law abiding is not good news. It is very bad news. It shows us that we can never be right, never measure up. It leaves us frustrated and disappointed with ourselves.
But grace is good news. We don't have to strive to be good enough. God makes us good enough by putting us in Christ. Yet it is a huge blow to our pride.
v.20 I assure you before God that what I am writing you is no lie.
In this letter Paul launches straight into his message after a brief greeting. It seems some have been spreading malicious rumors and Paul is eager to set them straight.
There is a time to defend ourselves.
