Ephesians 3

November 20, 2009

Here’s how the study works: Read the chapter mentioned in the heading several times during the week and share any words, thoughts, verses that stood out to you. Having a week for a chapter creates the opportunity to reread it several times and make additional comments as you feel inclined as well as make comments on other people’s insights.

  1. v.6 This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.

It is hard to imagine the huge significance of this, and what it must have meant to the Jews at the time. Gentiles and Jews together as equals in one body was rather a shock to some Jews.

  3. v.10-11 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God has a plan to show the spiritual rulers and authorities his wisdom, and he is going to use the church to do it.

Unfortunately God's plan doesn't say anything about me having a nice, quiet, comfortable life!

  7. v.18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,

That I too may have power to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.
