Here’s how the study works: Read the chapter mentioned in the heading several times during the week and share any words, thoughts, verses that stood out to you. Having a week for a chapter creates the opportunity to reread it several times and make additional comments as you feel inclined as well as make comments on other people’s insights.

Yes indeed, we are saved by grace.
I also like v.4-5 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ…

vs 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—
and this not from yourselves,
it is the gift of God—
9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
How often are we reminded that this work of God cannot be done on our own … that He is the potter and we are the clay.

Having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets …
Christ Jesus being the cornerstone…
We are being built together into a building …. God's dwelling in the Spirit.
Cool, I wish I could tangibly get my mind around that exactly … I mean really see it.
Wonder what part of the building I am being built into.
I think Susan will definitely be in the library.

Library sounds good to me!

v.21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord.
God takes a group of his own people — fallen, damaged, broken and roughly hewn people — and they rise to become a holy temple. How amazing is that!

v.11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)
We are told to remember that we were Gentiles by birth. The plan of God was to choose the Jews and then included the Gentiles. God's plan of salvation is not like a human plan.

v.6-7 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
…that he might show the incomparable riches of his grace…It is not about us, but rather, it is about what God is doing.

v.5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions v.12 you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. v.13 you who once were far away v.19 no longer foreigners and strangers
No longer dead in transgressions; no longer separate from Christ; no longer excluded from citizenship; no longer foreigners to the covenants; no longer without hope; no longer without God; no longer far way; no longer foreigners and strangers. All because “of his great love for us” and because he “is rich in mercy” (v.4).

v.14-15 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace
“by setting aside” is translated “abolished” in other versions and means rendered inoperative. The law separated the Jews from Gentiles especially because of dietary regulations but now Jesus has abolished the law and created peace.
