I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful I know that full well. Psalm 139:14

How would we react if God asked us, “Do you enjoy my creation? Do you love my sunsets? Do you appreciate this day that I made for you?”

Often we look for efficiency and success, more than God’s hand in the everyday scenes of our lives. Yet daily there are reminders of God’s presence. In the beauty of the trees, in the babble of a bird’s song and in the blessing of friends and family. Many times we fail to see God in our daily surroundings.

More than this, God is working to choreograph our lives. “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). Yet often we don’t credit God with his attention to detail, with his interest in our lives or his desire for our best. When our circumstances don’t work out the way we want, we fail to see God’s larger purposes.

Paul continues, “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters” (Romans 8:29). God’s goal is that we grow to be like his Son. When we reflect on Jesus’ life we see his trust in God and his love for people. Are these qualities evident in my life?

Growing to be like his Son, is a serious challenge that we would rather avoid. However, God isn’t easily discouraged and persists in working in our lives to bring about his purposes.

One day we will fully realise that all his works are indeed wonderful.
