Book Review : My Brother Tom

July 5, 2017

This book is currently being featured on the Australian Christian Readers Blog Alliance. Information about the author and more details about the book can be found here.

My brother Tom is a picture book for young children, which helps them understands the anxiety, as well as the difficulties of a caring for a premature baby. The author, Michelle Worthington, introduces the idea of angels as a way of bringing comfort and reassurance to the baby’s brother.

Ann-Marie Finn did a good job with the illustrations and I liked the gentle flowing font that was used throughout the book.

The book ends a little abruptly with Tom crawling, when on the previous page he was still in the incubator. Nevertheless, it is a lovely picture book and a helpful story that enables young children to better cope with the demands of having premature baby born into the family.

A useful resource for young children.
