My brother Tom is a picture book for young children, which helps them understands the anxiety, as well as the difficulties of a caring for a premature baby. The author, Michelle Worthington, introduces the idea of angels as a way of bringing comfort and reassurance to the baby’s brother.

Ann-Marie Finn did a good job with the illustrations and I liked the gentle flowing font that was used throughout the book.

The book ends a little abruptly with Tom crawling, when on the previous page he was still in the incubator. Nevertheless, it is a lovely picture book and a helpful story that enables young children to better cope with the demands of having premature baby born into the family.

A useful resource for young children.
