Chapter Four: Key #3 Listen to Your Navigation System—listen and follow God’s Direction
Obedience to God sounds somewhat negative to our modern ears yet obedience to God is simply following guidance from the wisest Counsellor who has our best interests at heart. Migdon shows us through the life of Moses how God used the ten plagues in Egypt to teach Moses obedience and strengthen his faith. God doesn’t expect perfection from us and we will make mistakes. However Jesus is able to help us and strengthen us as we seek to follow God’s direction.
Hey, thanks for the comment on my blog. I’ve seen you around A2A and some of the other blogs, but hadn’t drifted over here yet. 🙂 Always appreciate knowing more of the clergy and clergy spouses guild . . . personally, I find it easier to simply get that piece of information out of the way, let people do whatever they’re going to do with it, and then get on with the process of being myself. I’m interested to see from your profile that you listed “The Enneagram” as one of your favorite books. I’ve been working through a book called “Personality Types” that is based on the Enneagram . . . are you familiar with it? What do you think? Can you throw up an Amazon link or something, so I know precisely which enneagram book you’re talking about? 🙂

Thanks Sara for coming by.
The Enneagram book I’m referring to is the one published in 1984 and was, I think, the original: The Enneagram : A Journey of Self Discovery by Maria Beesing, Robert J. Nogosek, and Patrick H. O’Leary. I haven’t been impressed with the ones that have come out more recently.
At the time I first read it, many years ago, I was having difficulties in a particular relationship. I was “caving-in” to a person who was confrontional. After reading The Enneagram I realized that this person wanted me to stand up for myself otherwise they saw me as “wishy washy” whereas all I was really trying to do was avoid any sniff of anger. Anyway I changed my behaviour towards this person and I found I gained their respect. As a result I became a big fan of the Ennegram. I have found it useful in other relationships to as it helps me understand where people are coming from. Mind you, the book will tell you not to go round working out what other people are (!) but rather work out what you are and learnt to grow towards a more balanced self.
I’m not familiar with the book, “Personality Types”. Seems like there are a lot of these types of books around these days. However I generally find them helpful in understanding people, and some days, even myself!
