Here’s how the study works: Read the chapter mentioned in the heading several times during the week and share any words, thoughts, verses that stood out to you. Having a week for a chapter creates the opportunity to reread it several times and make additional comments as you feel inclined as well as make comments on other people’s insights.
V 1-5
Finally, Brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapily and be honored, just as it was with you. And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith. But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.
WOW…..amazing….that these very words written thousands of years ago….could be a letter we would write to our church family this very day!!
I stand in awe of our most loving Father, our Lord Jesus Christ, name above all names!

I haven’t had much chance to read this chapter as we have been busy getting ready to go away for a few days for a wedding. I won’t back until early next week so I’ll post about the next book on Saturday 19th.

V.16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way.
God wants us have “peace at all times and in every way”. Wow!

v.1 pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored.
Paul wants the Lord’s message to be honoured.
As Christians we also need to honour the Lord’s message and give God a good name in all we do and say since we are His representatives.

At last … read the chapter.
Did anyone else note that Paul talks about Christian leaders “working” Paul and the gang “worked” and preached Christ at the same time !!! Woohoo.

For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example, because we did not act in an undisciplined manner among you, nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with labor and hardship we kept working night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you; not because we do not have the right to this, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you, so that you would follow our example.
For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order:
if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.
For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.
Hmmmm
We got some of these over here … how about you?
Churches built as money makers for a group of men and their families.
Jim Jones move over … lol

v. 8-9 but worked with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us.
Paul had the right to be provided for but chose not to enforce this right. His desire was to be a model for these new Christians. However there were times when he did allow others to provide for him Acts 18:5.

v.1-2 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith.
Paul prays for a smooth ride, not that he always got it but continued to pray for it anyway. He also probably pray for "travelling mercies" yet he was ship wrecked three times.
Nevertheless we continue to pray, even when we don't see the results we are hoping for, because we know that God is ultimately in charge and one day we will have breakthroughs.
