Here’s how the study works: Read the chapters mentioned in the heading during the week and share any words, thoughts, verses that stood out to you. Having a week for several chapters creates the opportunity to revisit them and make additional comments as you feel inclined as well as make comments on other people’s insights.
26:24 As surely as I valued your life today, so may the LORD value my life and deliver me from all trouble.
Two verses later David 'escapes' to Philistine territory. He wanted God to deliver him from trouble because he had not killed Saul but he is having a moment of doubt and doesn't think God will continue to protect him (27:1).
Even godly people have moments of doubt.

27:12 Achish trusted David and said to himself, “He has become so obnoxious to his people, the Israelites, that he will be my servant for life.”
Why did David seek protection from Achish when he had God? Perhaps he was tired and worn out from hiding from Saul? David was here for 16 months and his plan was successful (v. 4) Saul wouldn't have wanted to take on the Philistines as well as David.
Achish underestimated David's commitment to God and his people. It's a common mistake that non-believers make about a Christian's commitment.

28:1-2 In those days the Philistines gathered their forces to fight against Israel. Achish said to David, “You must understand that you and your men will accompany me in the army.” David said, “Then you will see for yourself what your servant can do.” Achish replied, “Very well, I will make you my bodyguard for life.”
What was David thinking, by agreeing to go into battle with Achish? Did he expect God to get him out of this or did he have a plan of his own? In the end the Philistine commanders didn't want David (29:4-7). Perhaps David knew this? Yet he was putting himself in a vulnerable position.

29:9 Achish answered, “I know that you have been as pleasing in my eyes as an angel of God; nevertheless, the Philistine commanders have said, ‘He must not go up with us into battle.’
David was deceiving Achish but was still a blessing to him. Perhaps David shared the booty with him form the raids against the Amalekites. Fortunately David wasn't able to deceive his commanders and they sent him home. God was still looking after David even when David wasn't in a good place – physically or spiritually.

30:23-24 David replied, “No, my brothers, you must not do that with what the LORD has given us. He has protected us and delivered into our hands the raiding party that came against us. Who will listen to what you say? The share of the man who stayed with the supplies is to be the same as that of him who went down to the battle. All will share alike.”
'Share and share alike' (MSG) David viewed the plunder as coming from the Lord it was not something he achieved by his own strength therefore it was to be shared with all.
This is how to be generous, view everything as coming from the Lord's hand.
