Here’s how the study works: Read the chapter mentioned in the heading several times during the week and share any words, thoughts, verses that stood out to you. Having a week for a chapter creates the opportunity to reread it several times and make additional comments as you feel inclined as well as make comments on other people’s insights.

v.7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you may pray.
So if we are not clear minded and self-controlled we won’t pray. I have found this to be true in my experience if I’m worried and upset I don’t pray. It requires faith to remain calm – to trust God regardless of the circumstances.
Exodus 14:14 (NLT): Just stay clam

v.4 They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you.
“They think it strange” – we are abused because there are those who don’t like us being different to them. It makes them feel guilty/convicted.

v.19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
Commit to God, do good. Good advise regardless of our circumstances.

Hi Susan,
Marc and I have had a week holiday. But I've been reading Peter while away. I'm glad I've taken the time to look deeper into this book. I find It's when I stop, think and pray that his word overwhelms me with peace, and delights me with comfort, knowing I'm not on this journey on my own, In fact God is with me. That gives me the strength to aim for my best no matter what the circumstances.
In fact I have a renewed strength in reading this book with you. Thanks
