Here’s how the study works:
Read the chapter mentioned in the heading several times during the week and share any words, thoughts, verses that stood out to you. Having a week for a chapter creates the opportunity to reread it several times and make additional comments as you feel inclined as well as make comments on other people’s insights.
v.12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
Living a good life is not a protection against criticism! But as keep our eyes on the 'big picture' we know it is worth it.

v6 "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in Him will never be put to shame"
The message Bible says .."trust in him and you will never regret it"
I love the image of Christ as a Rock. The cornerstone which we build our lives upon.

Oops I left out 'we' in my previous comment. Should read, "But as we keep…"
Yes the picture of Christ as a Rock is very reassuring in the uncertainties of life.

v.2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
Once we know that God is good and committed ourselves to Him the next step is to "crave pure spiritual milk" so that we grow. Spirtual milk is those disciplines like reading, praying, fellowshipping etc. The interesting thought here is that we are not to just do these things but "crave" them.

v.19 For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God.
Unjust suffering happens even if it is not specific inflicted because we are Christians. Our response, regardless of where the suffering is coming from, is to be "conscious of God" – to make him the centre of our focus – so that we are able to "bear" it well.

We've been speaking alot at my church recently about having Intimacy with Christ. It's only when we take the time to develop a relationship with him that start to comprehend the desire to "bear it well" for Him because of the love he has for us. And the blessings that flow are amazing.
But …….I wonder who else is reading this Blog that would like to chat!

That was me, I pressed the wrong button.

I have a stat counter on this blog that tells me in the last week there were 49 page loads; 34 unique visits; 28 first time visits; and 6 returning visits (It is set not to count my visits).
The first time visits are usually people who type something like: "John 12 bible study" into a search engine and they end up on this blog. Hopefully the returning visits are actually people who are following along with the study but are too shy to comment!
It does get a bit lonely around here sometimes but when I look at the stats I can hope that I am being a blessing to someone. And Marg you are a blessing to me with your comments. It is always nice to have another perspective 🙂

v.13-14 Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.
(From Constable’s Commentary) "Christians should practice civil disobedience only when the government requires its citizens to disobey God, not when it only permits them to disobey Him. Currently the United States government permits abortion, for example, but it does not require it."
